Soapbox Saturday

Here I am jumping up on my soapbox again.  This time I'm preaching to myself right along with the choir.

Mothers have a tough job.  See the period at the end of that sentence?  It doesn't matter what the circumstances are.  Working moms, stay-at-home moms, moms of teens, moms of babies, moms living in poverty, moms living in wealth, they all have a difficult job and a tremendous responsibility.

Why then are we so cruel to each other?  Why do we speak unkind words about each other?

I have from time to time discussed, none too kindly, the choices of other mothers.  Mostly in the confines of my own home, but on occasion less than kind words have been spoken in the presence of "like-minded" women.

And who does that help?  No one, that's who.

So, from my soapbox, let me shout it out to moms near and far.  Be kind to each other.  Encourage and support each other.

This job of mothering is much too great a task to add the complication of comparing ourselves to others or standing in judgment of another's choices.

Thank you for your comment. I love hearing from those who read the blog, and hope we can share with each other, graciously of course.
