Soapbox Saturday

Celebrating the 4th of July reminded me of this pet peeve.

This Soapbox Saturday is also a public service message.  Let this serve as a warning to whatever "public" I may be in the midst of as our family attends baseball games or parades.

One of a few things that may lead to my creating a scene is people who fail to show proper respect at the raising of our country's flag or the singing/playing of the national anthem.

What does proper respect look like:
  • Stand
  • Be silent or sing along
  • Remove hats
  • Place your right hand (not your hat) over your heart
So, if you see a lady with a disapproving look snatching the hat off some guy's head as the anthem begins, or shushing a group of teenagers please just look away.  Just look away.

  1. I absolutely will NOT look away. Instead, I'll scooch in closer to where you are and help tackle the disrespect with you. :)

Thank you for your comment. I love hearing from those who read the blog, and hope we can share with each other, graciously of course.
