Gram's Piano

My grandmother sang in the choir of her little Baptist church for decades.  She sang alto, like me.  Rather, I sing alto like her.

I learned to sing standing beside this piano as she played Shirley Temple songs.  I can still sing parts of "Good Ship Lollypop" and "Animal Crackers in My Soup."

I miss my grandmother, maybe more so now that I sing alto in the choir of my own little Baptist church.  Her piano sits in my living room where I pick out harmonies as I practice.

She left me a piano, a legacy of music, and a legacy of faith.  I think she'd be grateful that I appreciate it, and I know I'm grateful for all she took the time to pass on.

Join us for Gratituesday at Heavenly Homemakers!

  1. And you will pass that legacy on to your children. Music is such a lovely legacy to leave.

  2. I recently inherited my Gram's dining room table - a place where she ingrained in me a legacy of hospitality and family. I understand your gratitude!

Thank you for your comment. I love hearing from those who read the blog, and hope we can share with each other, graciously of course.
